Welcome to South Wonston Social Club’s official website.
South Wonston Social Club exists, as its name suggests, to facilitate, promote and support social interaction. It started life on 29th October 1950 as a Nissen hut on the present site (loaned by a local landowner and subsequently generously donated) and was then updated to its present form in 1989.
The club has facilities for and supports teams in the local darts, pool and cribbage leagues and has a large screen showing major sporting events, etc. The fully stocked bar sells wines, spirits, soft drinks and snacks, ciders and beers including at least one draught real ale. Tea and coffee are also available. We hope that the newly refurbished kitchen will soon be back in operation. The juke box provides a wide range of music to suit most tastes.
The weekly bingo sessions from autumn to spring are very popular as are quiz nights (turn up early or you may have to form a team standing at the bar!). The club has a dance floor and room for band or disco. Members and their guests are welcomed to hold their birthday, wedding and anniversary parties at the club, which also organises other events especially around Christmas and New Year. The Christmas raffle typically takes most of the evening to draw and distribute the prizes. The August bank holiday ramble and barbecue is well supported even when the weather could be better.
Keep an eye on the web site, village magazine and the white board at the front of the club for up and coming events – or receive the details by email. The club has WiFi connectivity – password available from the bar.
Annual membership is currently only £15 (OAPs £5) after the initial purchase of a share at £2 + VAT – simply ask at the bar to join.
Our official opening times are:
Sunday: 12-3.30pm & 7-11pm
