Description

The lens also features weather-sealing to provide anti-dust and water-protection capabilities, a nice touch given the low price.

Distortion is well controlled, and if you work in JPG format you won't notice a vignette at /1.4 and f/2. But there is a dark cast at the edges in uncorrected Raw images—you might like the effect for portraits, and if you don't, it's easy enough to ameliorate in Lightroom or Capture One. For F1.4 Fans on a Budget The manual focusing ring on this lens is peculiarly tight, needing quite a bit of force to move. This can make applying fine adjustments a pain, especially if you're in a hurry. Closest focus is one metre, which is fine for most portraits, but can be a little limiting for general use. The lens takes 72mm filters and as focusing is performed internally, the lens doesn't extend and the filter thread doesn't rotate, which makes this lens ideal for use with polarising and graduated filters.

Introduction

Globalement le Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art survole la compétition et ne coute que 300 euros de plus que le nouveau Samyang 5 Sample of Photos /Exemples de Photos Versus the V1 , it had mainly the mode button that allow to turn the Focus ring into an aperture ring, but surprisingly the sharpness was a little bit less good (certainly due to variation of the quality from one sample to another one) which is a pity As well as wide-angle, standard and telephoto manual-focus lenses, specialist optics in the range include macro and tilt/shift lenses. Samyang also makes cine lenses but, for now, let’s take a closer look at some of the most popular lenses in the autofocus, premium manual, crop-sensor manual and full-frame manual lines. The Samyang AF 85mm f/1.4 FE has a very wide focus ring given the overall size of the lens. There are no hard stops at the ends of the range, making it more difficult to set focus at infinity. Polariser users should be pleased that the 77mm filter thread doesn't rotate on focus. Samyang XP lenses: Samyang also offers a range of ‘Premium Manual Focus’ optics for DSLRs, all of which are full-frame compatible and available in Canon EF-mount. Bearing the ‘XP’ (XPert) name, they currently range from the XP 10mm f/3.5 to the XP 85mm f/1.2. The 14mm lens is also available in Nikon F-mount.

The wide control ring has multiple functions depending on the mode selected via a switch on the lens barrel. Mode 1 sets the ring for manual focus but to be active the camera needs to be set to MF or DMF, the latter position enabling tweaks to be made to the focus position when using AF. Focusing is down to 0.85m (2.79 feet) which is about what we would expect from an 85mm lens. Maximum magnification is 0.12x. This is not a macro lens by any means, but it does mean that good close headshots are possible, something vital in what may well be used as a portrait lens. AF is driven by a linear STM motor and is fast, accurate and extremely quiet.

La résistance au flare est juste bonne , on peut en avoir facilement du flare en pointant l’objectif vers le soleil Focusing is usefully internal and manual focusing is possible when the MF mode is set on the Sony camera body. Full-time manual focus override is also available if you choose the DMF focusing mode instead. There's no distance and/or depth of field scale available on this lens. Falloff of illumination towards the corners is typical of a fast aperture lens like this. The corners are 2.28 stops darker than the image centre at f/1.4 and visually uniform illumination is achieved by f/5.6. The AF 85mm F1.4 FE’s optical design minimizes optical aberrations, while maximizing the image quality from corner to corner. Its detailed rendering results in exceptional image quality, even on the latest high-resolution full-frame cameras; and its bright maximum aperture means you can enjoy this excellent performance even when shooting indoors or in darker conditions. Globally the Sigma 85mm F1.4 DG DN Art wins hands down and cost only 300 euros more than the new Samyang (800 euros)
